As you come to the end of your Invisalign treatment, you may start wondering what happens next. Here’s what to expect once your treatment is complete.
Retainers
Once your Invisalign treatment is finished, the maintenance portion of your orthodontic treatment will begin. This primarily means one thing: a retainer.
After any orthodontic treatment, the teeth will not be as firmly set in the surrounding tissues as they once were. To keep them from gradually shifting back out of position, you will have to wear a retainer.
To begin with you will probably have to wear your retainer full time, so that your teeth have an opportunity to settle into their new positions. Over time however, you will likely be able to downgrade to part-time retainer wear. Part-time wear may include only certain days in a week, or just at night.
Teeth Whitening
Invisalign patients often undergo teeth whitening following their treatment. Whitening their teeth helps to complete the look and highlight their straight new smiles!

Regular Dental Checkups
You will need to keep visiting your dentist regularly for cleanings and checkups after Invisalign treatment is over. Of course, you’ll no longer have to attend the extra Invisalign-specific checkup appointments, so while we won't see you as frequently, we’ll still be seeing you regularly.
